Are a you Chatter expert?  Well, if you’re not then you should be, according to Marc Benioff. And he’ll even give it to you for free.

This morning’s Dreamforce keynote wasn’t just about updating contacts in your database and getting your staff to use it (remember, the good ol’ days?).  It was about full integration of what’s happening outside of salesforce.com.  Facebook, Twitter, and so many other social media sites. Benioff knows that consumers want information to come to be delivered to them in a place where they are already spending a lot of their time instead of the other way around.  But are you prepared for Phase 2?  Here are a few key announcements that stood out during today’s keynote:

• Put the pieces of the puzzle together. People don’t understand what Jigsaw is used for and why. Jigsaw provides complete user information and therefore update your sales cloud with real time integration (called the Data Cloud). You don’t need to hunt down contacts anymore and you can clean your SFA and CRM data with just one click and get rid of bad data.
   
• Get in on groups. Salesforce.com now allows for a private collaboration space within the sales cloud.  You can share slide decks, meeting information, and you don’t need to download anything.  You can share stories real time and now it runs on the iPhone and the iPad.  This can be used both internally and externally.
   
• Free Chatter for Everyone. If you aren’t already using Chatter, salesforce.com announced this morning that they will be providing free Chatter for all business with the ability to upgrade.
   
• Database.com. Salesforce unveiled database.com, a no hardware/software, open source, with auto-upgrading & scaling.  It also seems to have a really sweet recruiting application that can be used on several platforms including Facebook, LinkedIN, etc.
   
• Was that Will.i.am? Will.I.Am says he wants to make music and let his audience members hear it real-time…..and the only place he can do that is in the cloud.
