Maximize Your Dreamforce Experience: Expert Tips From Bluewolf's Client Champions

July 30, 2015

Bluewolf is a Titanium sponsor of this year’s Dreamforce, marking our twelfth year sponsoring the cloud computing event of the year. Personally, it marks my ninth year attending, and with this year’s lineup of keynote speakers and performers, I am looking forward to the best yet.

As a member of Bluewolf’s global marketing team, I have the pleasure of working on a customer program we call Bluewolf Champions. As part of that program, I challenged our clients to submit their best tips to get the most value from Dreamforce. Check out the top five tips from our seasoned Champions below.

  1. Sessions: Sign up early & divide and conquer.

Make sure to secure your sessions as soon as registration opens. If you are attending with several folks from your company, divide and conquer. Meet as a group and come up with a strategy to cover all the sessions your team is interested in. Share your notes and what you learned when you return to the office.
  2. More on Sessions: Focus your efforts & flag for later.

Try to attend the main keynote. It's quite an experience for the first-time attendee or seasoned veteran — it's always a great show. For other sessions, focus your efforts on the top three or four sessions you want to attend each day, and flag the rest as favorites. All sessions are recorded, so if you miss one, you can always watch it later on YouTube.
  3. Don’t miss the first-ever women’s track.

Last year, Dreamforce featured a host of amazing women leaders including Hillary Clinton, Ariana Huffington, and Marissa Mayer (to name a few). This year, Salesforce continues to set the bar by including a complete track focused on women leadership, featuring speakers including Jessica Alba and Goldie Hawn. Be sure to check out these sessions.
  4. Round out your learning with networking & social events.

Network with other customers who are using Salesforce in ways that translate to your business. You hear a lot of great stories during the sessions, but these stories come to life outside of sessions in a social setting. The networking events, hosted by Bluewolf and other partners, are a great way to have more meaningful conversations on specific topics.
  5. Plan your logistics.

    Wear comfortable shoes!

Arrive for sessions ten minutes early — popular sessions fill up and late arrivals may find themselves out of luck.

Bring a ton of business cards.

Bring a water bottle — the lines at Starbucks and other places take a while.

Arrange business meetings in advance, as most places nearby will be crowded.

Wash your hands often and bring hand sanitizer in your bag. With 100,000+ attendees, there are lots of handshakes, and you want to stay healthy.

One last tip comes from our CMO, Corinne Sklar. Last year, Corinne wrote this blog to help marketers get the most out of Dreamforce, but I think this tip can apply to everyone, no matter your function or role. Corinne’s advice: leave room to be inspired. She said, “Marc Benioff has done exceptionally well in helping businesses see past the end of their nose. He sees the future. If you are an inspired leader, you can help inspire your team.”

All great advice — hope to see everyone at Dreamforce.
