Whether you are keeping your career options open or hunting for your next big move, Dreamforce is an excellent place to meet potential employers and expand your network. These tips will help you navigate your way through the next four days of networking!
- Connect with corporate recruiters
They are at the conference to find talent like you! Do a bit of digging and see if any recruiters from your dream company will be attending Dreamforce. Recruiters will usually have new updates on their Linkedin or twitter feed. If you are already interviewing with SF partner company and you know they will have representation at Dreamforce, ask your recruiter to set up a face to face meeting at the conference with a key player. - Create a dream list
Map out the companies you are interested in and use the conference schedule to find out what events they will be hosting and their location on the expo floor. Its also important to know what positions your top companies are currently looking to fill so you can tailor your elevator pitch to those roles. Visit their websites and linkedin pages to read up on their open job opportunities. - Nurture your network
If you use the age old method of exchanging business cards, make sure to follow up with an email or connect on Linkedin within 48 to 72 hours. Any longer and you risk losing the card! - Master the elevator pitch
If you are a seasoned professional, you will have a lot of great stories to tell. Pick key accomplishments and keep your elevator pitch concise. In 30 seconds, you want to express what makes you unique and what you are looking for in your next opportunity. And don’t forget to exchange business cards.
For all you job seekers, I hope this blog has been helpful. Our Talent Team will be attending Dreamforce this year and invites you to join them for a Networking Happy Hour at Barrel House on Wednesday, September 16 from 5 to 7PM.
