Bluewolf Open Raises Over $12,000 for College Prep Program

July 25, 2016

Bluewolf embodies a “work hard, play hard” philosophy. We enjoy diving in and solving complicated problems with our clients, but we also recognize there’s a time when you just need to get out and play some golf. That’s part of why we began hosting our Bluewolf Open philanthropy golf tournament several years ago. The other reason is that this event gives us the opportunity to honor our Pledge 1% commitment and give back to the community. The golf tournament offers a place for clients to come together with the Bluewolf team, enjoy a great game, and connect with the kids who benefit from the funds raised by the Open.

This year, the beneficiary of the Bluewolf Open was The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. We first became involved with First Tee when we invited them to participate in the Bluewolf Open several years ago. We were so impressed by the program and the kids involved in it that we invited them back this year. Thanks to our sponsors and generous donors, we raised over $12,000 for The First Tee.

First Tee invites kids to participate in golf and life-skills curriculum through outreach and after school programs. “We try to help make better people-we’re not looking for the next great tour player, but to teach them the game [of golf],” says Barry McLaughlin, Senior Director of Operations and Business Development for First Tee.

Several of the First Tee kids played the course with fellow participants. Participating in the Open offered opportunities beyond a chance to get out on the course: “I always tell the kids that with Bluewolf and Salesforce, you’re around the best marketing people in the industry so make sure to network with them,” McLaughlin said.

The kids did just that, and will have the opportunity to continue learning later this summer. They’ve been invited by the New York office to come in for an educational program on marketing and STEM. The proceeds from the Bluewolf Open will also contribute to further support the educational program recently initiated by First Tee. The focus of the program is college preparation and enablement with individualized tutoring, SAT prep, and college workshops.;

McLaughlin’s parting thought on the event was “a great big thank you to Bluewolf and everyone at the open for being a great friend to our Chapter. Thanks for your involvement in this amazing opportunity.”

We’d like to extend our own “thank you” to our event sponsors: IBM iX, Salesforce, Apttus, and Conga.
