CIOs today are in transition. It’s not enough to only focus on cost cutting and efficiency measures; you must also recognize the need for value-adding productivity. This transition represents a shift from simply managing resources to managing results. The end of the first decade of the new millennium is a time for CIOs to take stock, assess their current state and position themselves for the future. (Gartner, The 2010 CIO Agenda, 2010). And it’s the rise of technologies such as Cloud Computing and Virtualization that are helping to shape this new IT landscape.
