Gamification simply refers to the integration of game dynamics into a site, service, community, content or campaign in order to drive participation. It’s about driving desired behaviors.
At Bluewolf, we implemented a gamification platform - Bunchball’s Nitro for Salesforce - in order to incentivize participation in our #GoingSocial program. We were looking to drive enterprise knowledge-sharing, both internally and externally. Our philosophy is that when you can further unlock the knowledge trapped within your organizational walls (or cyber walls), you’re taking the right step towards solving business problems faster. It’s through this employee collaboration and engagement that you’ll also derive increased customer value.
As a professional services firm, our people are our assets. We aimed to build the thought leadership and online social personas of our internal thought leaders.
Today, our people are earning points, new levels, badges, and rewards for such things as:
- Engaging and starting conversations on Chatter
- Sharing content to their Twittersphere, Facebook, or LinkedIn community - all from within Salesforce
- Driving members of their social networking communities and others to our website through shared blog posts, case studies, and white papers
- Publishing a blog post on our site: www.bluewolf.com
- Earning a specified threshold of unique visitors to their published blog
- Earning a 50+ level Klout score
- Adding content to our internal knowledge management system

The Gamification Summit 2012 will host the first ever GAwards: Best in Gamification Awards to recognize outstanding achievements in Gamification in the past year. We're excited to have our #GoingSocial story nominated as a "Best Use of Gamification in the Enterprise."
