AWS Summit New York, Hilton Hotel, June 10th

While walking around the AWS Summit exhibit hall last week, the words ‘launching’, ‘joining’ and ‘navigating’ rang in my ears.

What were they all referring to? The Cloud.

Cloud Technology is the punch people are drinking these days. And with the speed that technology is growing, one can not afford to lag behind. 

The information-packed day was beneficial for everyone who attended, whether you were just learning the significance of the word ‘Cloud’ or eagerly eating up the opening keynote by Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon.com.

The Summit aimed at companies with all levels of involvement with the Cloud. The breakouts included AWS 101, Migrating Existing Applications to the Cloud, and Mobile Apps. Speakers were heard from Amazon and their clients, the NYTimes and Viemo. With about 1,000 attendees, the free event was the perfect opportunity to draw exposure to AWS’s new features.

The hot topic was auto-scaling which refers to establishing an environment that can be automatically flexible dependent on the growth or shrinkage of a company. This is most beneficial for companies that vary their application use by week, day, or even hour. With this automated flexibility comes instantaneous savings. You will only pay for what you use.
